Government of India has decided to set up Oxygen plants through DRDO at district level in all States/UTs. The Directorate General of Training (DGT), MSDE is supporting this by facilitating supply of the trained ITI Graduates to install, operate and maintain the Oxygen plants on war footing basis. Approx. 1500 Oxygen plants are being set up in different States/UTs. In addition, there are demands on availability of skilled manpower for installation, maintenance of various medical equipment such as Ventilators and Mini Oxygen concentrators from the various parts of the country. DGT will train a group of 20/25 ITI Graduates per district to work 24x7 at Oxygen plants. Since ITI Graduates may not be having expertise to work in Oxygen plants, Indian Institute of Kanpur will be taking lead for training and with OEMs on ventilators and concentrators. These trained ITI Graduates will be readily available at district level whom can be engaged by Hospitals/OEMs.
